My First Little House Series

I was obsessed with the Little House on the Prairie series when I was younger. (OK, who am I kidding, I visited the Laura Ingalls Museum when I drove cross country after college.) I was so excited to find this picture book version, My First Little House Series, for my girls. It is a wonderful way to introduce Laura and her family to young children. The girls love hearing about the "olden days" and have so many questions to ask about Laura and her family.

Wow! I love it! I grew up with my mom reading the series to my sister and I until we could read and then we read them over and over again. Still probably my favorite books to this day. It's exciting that I can involve my extremely young kids into something that was such a huge part of my childhood. Thanks for posting about this.

This series really has that something special charm. At my post I have included a "help Laura pack the covered wagon" challenge that your children can print out and color.

Love these books too. I grew up with my mom reading them to me, then I reread to them to my myself. I have read most of these to my daughter- we found them at the library. She has Laura's adventurous spirit. I look forward to reading the "real" books to her soon.

@ Liz & Crazysox: I agree! I saved my copies hoping someday I would have little girls to read them to :-) Then of course, there is Anne of Green Gables...
