Mother's Day Ideas: Model Magic Necklaces
Here we used Model Magic to make beads for a beautiful (Grand)Mother's Day necklace. Model Magic is very light weight so the beads are not heavy like clay.
Roll the Model Magic into small balls. Poke onto skewer. Reshape if squished by process. Move skewer around to make hole large enough to thread later. You can use skewer to make dents on the beads too. Let dry.
We just used markers to decorate our beads. Polks Dots seemed to be easiest and fast. The Model Magic is still somewhat soft so just put the marker tip to the bead and lightly press for a perfect dot. Remember to decorate outside edge because that is what will be showing.
String onto ribbon or yarn. We used a piece of packing tape wrapped around the ribbon to create a stiff end (needle) for threading.
Have fun crafting with your kids! Mama King

Very cute Kim, I love your handmade necklace. The remind me of all the cereal and noodle necklaces kids always seem to make for mommies. Yours has more staying power for sure!
Hi Kim, I added this to an upcoming post on Kid Made Mother's Day gift ideas. Great one, thanks for sharing!
awwww grandma will LOVE that for mothers day! We're definitely doing that for 2 of the 3 grandma's in this family!!
What a great idea. I love that not only do the little ones get practice stringing the beads, great for fine motor development, but they also get to create the designs on the beads themselves and the shape of each bead- making the necklace truly their own creation.
That would be a great Mother's Day present. M saughter would love doing that.
Thanks for sharing.
How cute! I've never thought of making beads with model magic before. We made magnets once, and they turned out great because the dough is so lightweight. What a neat idea!

These are adorable!
Very cool idea! I love model magic! I was thinking of trying magazine beads, so maybe we could make both, to make super-cool necklaces!
