Went to a local farm for peach picking yesterday. Bought some gorgeous corn. Decided to save the husks to see if I could attempt to make a corn husk doll for the girls.
Step 1: Start saving your corn husks (about 20 per doll.) This is the husks from 4 ears. Plenty to make two dolls or extras to make lots of mistakes and end up with one doll. Let dry 3 days.
I will be using the tutorial from Family Fun.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.
I'm really curious to hear how this project goes. I remember trying this with my sister when we were 7 and 9 and it didn't work (the corn husks got moldy), but we didn't have a parent helping and we were living in a very humid climate...
Oooo... looks like fun! I should start saving some corn husks too. I bet Emily would love this!
we used to make these as kids every fall. We used the dried husks left in the fields after they were harvested. I guess I never though to using our fresh corn husks. I have some ears in the kitchen right now. We should work those up this weekend. I'll have to check the link you shared, but what to you use as arms... we always used pieces of the stalk.
