Lu requested a mermaid tail for her Cinderella Barbie. I think she is hinting she wants the Ariel Barbie! Here is the slightly bulky and ill fitting result. Note: Felt does not make an ideal mermaid tail.
Lu is happy with it (it helps when your audience is 4 and easily impressed!)
Plus, it only took me 20 minutes to whip up.
So, I can live with it...for now.
You know the next trip to the fabric store I'll be looking for some cool fabric.
This is cute!
I recommend finding a knit fabric, since then you won't have to worry about fraying... Barbie clothes are tough because you need tiny seams (been thinking about blogging about this, maybe I'll get to it this week...)
adorable!! my daughters would love that! they want to see the new barbie mermaid movie.
But it makes a cute one!
So cute! I used to make Barbie clothes all the time, but they were more of the "sock-cuff tube dress" variety.
Hey Mama King, I've been trying to get in touch with you -- I'm an editor at FamilyFun magazine and looking to possibly purchase a craft idea! Can you email me at deborah (dot) way (at) disney (dot) com ? (omitting spaces, obviously...)
I think it turned out ADORABLE!!!
I may just have to make this for her Easter basket, how adorable. Karen
